Pen Kalamkari

Pen Kalamkari is an art form practised in Srikalahasti, Andhra Pradesh. A bamboo reed is used to draw the outline and natural dyes are used to fill colours giving the painting its characteristic earthy tone. Owing to milk used in the painting process, the fabric has an inherent smell. Scenes from epics and mythology, flora and fauna inspire these paintings.
