The Saree
A distinctive play of geometry, colour, and traditional Bengal handloom craftsmanship, this white and melon cotton saree is woven in the Dhonekhali cluster of West Bengal. Designed as a striking vertical half-and-half composition, the upper half of the body features alternating red and white vertical lines, creating a clean, elongated rhythm across the drape. The lower half transitions into a classic red and white checked pattern, introducing a contrasting geometric texture and visual depth. Framing the body is a bold 3¾-inch red border, enriched with traditional red motifs that add character and definition. The interplay of stripes, checks, and motifs creates a vibrant yet beautifully balanced expression of Bengali weaving.
The Pallu
The pallu continues the saree's rhythmic aesthetic with bands of red stripes in varying widths, creating movement and a strong visual finish. Towards the end, the traditional woven ‘dhaner sheesh’ motif adds a distinctly Bengali touch, inspired by the graceful form of a rice ear. The combination of varied stripes and symbolic detailing gives the pallu a beautiful handcrafted character that complements the structured body.
The Blouse
This saree does not come with a separate blouse piece, offering the freedom to style it with a blouse in red, white, melon, or another complementary shade. A solid red blouse can emphasise the bold border and motifs, while a white or melon blouse creates a softer, coordinated look.

Specifications & Care
-
Texture: Lightweight, breathable, and comfortably structured, with a naturally crisp finish when starched. The saree gradually softens with regular wear, developing a more fluid and comfortable drape while retaining its distinctive handwoven character. Its airy cotton construction makes it particularly well suited to the Indian climate and ideal for everyday wear, summer dressing, cultural occasions, and relaxed festive gatherings.
-
Care Instructions: The saree comes pre-starched, and we recommend periodic starching to help maintain its crisp structure. However, it can also be worn and maintained without starch for a softer, more relaxed drape. Wash gently with a mild detergent and dry in shade. Store folded in a clean, dry muslin cloth away from direct sunlight.
