The Saree

A masterclass in optical repetition and chromatic contrast, Afterimage brings a bold graphic energy to the expressive language of Pochampally Ikat.

The deep black body is covered in intricate geometric Ikat motifs woven in silver grey and scarlet red. Angular forms connect and flow into one another, creating an all-over pattern that appears to shift gently with the movement of the fabric. The silver-grey details lend definition to the composition, while flashes of scarlet bring warmth and intensity against the dark ground.

Framing the patterned body is a striking scarlet-red border measuring approximately 3.5 inches. Its clean, uninterrupted colour creates a strong architectural edge, grounding the intricacy of the weave while amplifying the saree’s dramatic palette.

The Pallu

The pallu turns the colour story around, moving from the black body into a vivid scarlet-red ground. Ivory geometric and floral Ikat motifs are woven across its surface, coming together in a rhythmic, coherent composition.

The high-contrast shift from black, silver grey and red to scarlet and ivory gives the pallu a powerful visual presence—like an image that continues to linger even after the eye has moved away.

The Blouse

The saree comes with an 84 cm blouse piece in contrasting scarlet red. Kept plain and minimal, it complements the graphic body and pallu while allowing the intricate Ikat patterning to remain the focal point.

Note from the Loom: Pochampally Ikat is created by carefully resist-dyeing sections of yarn before the threads are arranged and woven on the loom. The characteristic feathered outlines, subtle shifts and gentle irregularities within the motifs are treasured marks of this intricate handmade process.

Product Note: Being a handwoven product, slight variations in colour, weave, or design are natural and reflect the authentic beauty of handcrafted textiles. The blouse featured in the photoshoots is for representation purposes only and is not for sale.
