The Saree

A vibrant study in colour, geometry and traditional Ilkal craft, the body of the saree is woven from fine, breathable pure cotton in an emerald green and yellow micro-check pattern. The delicate checks create a gentle, timeless rhythm across the body, bringing together the richness of emerald with the warmth of yellow in a pattern that feels both classic and refreshingly contemporary. The fine scale of the checks keeps the overall look refined, allowing the colours to come alive beautifully as the saree moves.

Framing this lively checkered body is a traditional Ilkal border woven on a soft sage green Art Silk (Viscose Rayon) and cotton base. The border is intricately adorned with the characteristic geometric motifs known as chikki paras, rendered in a striking very deep plum that creates a beautiful tonal contrast against the softer green. Fine dark green horizontal stripes frame the motifs, lending the border a clean architectural finish and a defined edge to the silhouette. The combination of the emerald-and-yellow cotton body with the sage, plum and green border gives this Ilkal a particularly rich yet balanced colour story.

The Pallu

The magnificent silk pallu brings the distinctive heritage of Ilkal weaving into full expression. Masterfully joined directly to the cotton body using the authentic Topi Teni interlocking warp technique, the pallu showcases one of the most recognisable elements of traditional Ilkal weaving. The transition is adorned with traditional temple tower motifs (tope), before opening into the classic Ilkal layout of alternating shimmering silver and rich yellow horizontal silk bands.

The luminous silver and yellow silk adds a touch of festive richness to the vibrant cotton body, creating a beautiful contrast between the soft, breathable everyday weave and the lustrous traditional pallu.

The Blouse

Comes with a 75–85 cm running blouse piece in matching fabric, finished with the coordinating Ilkal border to create a cohesive look.

Note from the Loom: This saree is a certified handloom masterpiece from the Ilkal cluster. The Topi Teni technique involves physically interlocking the silk warp of the pallu with the cotton warp of the body. Any minor slubs, tiny irregularities, or thread variations at the joint are prized characteristics of this highly intensive manual process.

Product Note: Being a handwoven product, slight variations in colour, weave, or design are natural and reflect the authentic beauty of handcrafted textiles. The blouses featured in the photoshoots are for representation purposes only and are not for sale.
