The Story

Inspired by Cubist landscape art and earth-drawn textures, the BRAQUE: Green saree is an expressive, wearable canvas. Handwoven from pure Mulberry silk in Bengal, the body is bathed in a serene, muted Sage Green and textured with a delicate, hand-blocked "rain-drop" motif. Framed by a slim, framing border in deep rust-brown, the body carries an organic rhythm that feels tranquil yet distinctly modern.

The Pallu & Blouse

The 1-metre Kora silk pallu unfolds like an abstract panoramic landscape. Sweeping, hand-painted topographic waves and a radiant "setting sun" motif nestle within layered, flowing bands of ochre, soft sky blue, terracotta, and warm earth tones. Offering a striking architectural balance to the fluid pallu, the accompanying running blouse features a crisp, geometric grid layout composed of tiny squares in ochre, earth brown, and deep coffee.

Unmatched in drape and lightness, this piece effortlessly moves from sophisticated workday drapes to evening soirees and art dinners.

The Inspiration

Inspired by abstract art and modern design movements, we have explored the quiet power of form and flow. Finding beauty in the essential — a curve, a line, a geometric frame — and reimagining them as carriers of emotion, movement, and pause. Much like a brushstroke or a sculpted edge, these forms speak in subtleties: the suggestion of rhythm, the hint of stillness, the harmony of contrasts. The collection draws on the belief that form is never static — it holds memory, motion, and meaning within its contours.

The Collection

In Akaar, circles, lines, and shapes transcend their outlines to become woven poetry on silk — brought to life through the centuries-old craft of wax-resist Batik.

Each motif is first hand-drawn with hot wax, the cracks that form lending an organic, unpredictable beauty. When the cloth is dyed, these fine fissures bloom into intricate, almost celestial patterns, each telling its own unrepeatable story. Layer upon layer of wax and colour build depth, much like brushstrokes in a painting.

Crafted laboriously by skilled women artisans from the hinterlands of Bengal, every saree in Akaar is a singular expression — one of one — where the precision of form meets the fluidity of hand and the quiet poetry of imperfection.

The base fabric is a luxurious, soft and flowy handwoven Mulberry silk from Bengal.
