The Saree

A masterclass in sophisticated color theory and linear harmony, the body of this authentic handwoven Dhonekhali masterpiece features a striking vertical striped layout. Crafted with meticulous precision in the historic Dhonekhali weaving clusters of West Bengal, the entire canvas is defined by alternating, dual-tone vertical stripes each approximately 1 inch wide running seamlessly throughout the body in elegant shades of soft mauve and rich plum purple. Framing this deeply toned, rhythmic body is a beautiful, contrasting 3-inch wide border in a delicate pastel peach. The design is meticulously framed on both sides with intricate dotted lines and an inner row of cross motifs, while the outermost selvedge is finished with a sharp, 1 cm wide plum purple band. The entire architectural frame culminates beautifully in a traditional, running row of classic temple motifs.

The Pallu

The pallu serves as a stunning extension of the saree's linear story, bringing together the rich plum, mauve, and pastel peach tones in a beautifully balanced, traditional Dhonekhali layout. Draped over the shoulder, the rhythmic interplay of colours and fine horizontal bands creates a sophisticated, cohesive look that effortlessly coordinates with the vertical stripes of the main body, delivering a clean and polished heritage statement.

While we recommend periodic starching to preserve its signature structural look, it can absolutely be worn and maintained without starch as well. The fabric possesses an incredible quality of growing softer and more supple with every subsequent wash and wear.
