The Saree

A breathtaking celebration of complex mathematical weaving and architectural grace, the body of this authentic handwoven Dhonekhali masterpiece is an absolute visual marvel. Crafted with immaculate skill in the historic Dhonekhali weaving clusters of West Bengal, the canvas begins with a soft, soothing base of Parfait Peach. Layered over this dreamy pastel backdrop is an incredibly detailed, dual-layered network of handwoven green checks. The first layer consists of fine, narrow checks formed by green pinstripes spaced precisely 10.5 cm apart. The second layer introduces slightly wider green stripes that intersect to create a bolder grid, forming distinct junctions every 5 inches across the width of the saree and every 6.5 cm lengthwise. Breaking the linearity of these intersecting grids, the master weavers have beautifully interspersed delicate extra-weft geometric motifs on a completely separate, independent spacing grid.

Framing this masterful network of grids is a highly stylized and crisp border. It begins at the outermost edge with a 0.5 cm wide green dobby line, followed by an intricate Naksha Paar band detailing handwoven floral motifs. This floral artwork is flanked beautifully on either side by a solid 1 cm wide peach band. The entire layout finishes on the inner edge with another 0.5 cm green pinstripe and a running row of traditional, miniature temple motifs.

The Pallu

The pallu elegantly extends the saree's intricate linear language, bringing together the Parfait Peach base and the deep green checks into a beautifully balanced, traditional Dhonekhali layout. Woven with a rhythmic play of horizontal bands and stripes, the drape over the shoulder creates a beautifully composed statement that mirrors the rich complexity of the body grids while retaining the signature clean finish of West Bengal heritage weaves.

The Blouse

This saree is a standalone heritage piece and does not come with a blouse piece. To create a highly sophisticated and tailored look, pair it with a solid sleeveless forest green cotton blouse, a tailored peach linen crop top, or a contrasting off-white boat-neck blouse to let the green geometric grids of the body take center stage.

Specifications & Care

  • Texture: Exceptionally lightweight, highly breathable, and perfectly suited for the nuances of Indian weather. This saree arrives starched to hold a crisp, pristine form right out of the box. While we recommend light starching to maintain its signature, sophisticated structure, it can absolutely be worn and maintained without starch as well. If you prefer a completely fluid drape, we recommend soaking the saree overnight in salt water to easily remove the starch. The fabric possesses an incredible quality of growing softer, more fluid, and more supple with every subsequent wash and wear.
  • Care Instructions: Gentle hand wash separately in cold water only using a mild liquid detergent. Do not wring or squeeze excessively. Avoid drying in direct sunlight to maintain the distinct brilliance of the turmeric yellow and green hand-dyed yarns.
  • Shipping: Free shipping within India.
  • Delivery: Dispatched and delivered within 3–8 business days from the date of your order.

Because this is an authentic hand-loomed product from Hooghly, West Bengal, minor variations in stripe intervals, subtle thread slubs, or gentle colour textures are celebrated characteristics of its fine manual craftsmanship.

Product Note: Being a handwoven product, slight variations in colour, weave, or design are natural and reflect the authentic beauty of handcrafted textiles. The blouses featured in the photoshoots are for representation purposes only and are sold separately.
