Kala Cotton is the soul of Kutch, a resilient, carbon-neutral, and purely rain-fed organic fabric that mirrors the rugged beauty of the landscape it originates from. When this raw, textured canvas meets the precision of Ajrakh hand-block printing, it becomes a piece of wearable history.
Using traditional natural indigo dyes, this fabric features a rhythmic, linear arrangement of coniferous pine-tree motifs. The geometric simplicity of the trees creates a striking contrast against the warm, unbleached oat-beige base, making it a perfect marriage of mountain-inspired imagery and desert-born craft.
Product Details
Craft: Hand-spun and Handwoven Kala Cotton with Natural Dye Hand Block Print.
Material: 100% Organic Kala Cotton (Indigenous to Gujarat).
Design: A serene, repetitive pine tree (conifer) pattern in deep indigo on a natural, sun-kissed beige base.
Dimensions:
Length: 4.5 metres
Width: 44.5 inches
Feel & Drape: Characteristically breathable and soft, yet with a distinctively rustic, granular texture. Kala Cotton is exceptionally durable and grows softer with every wash. Its structural body makes it perfect for tailored silhouettes that require a crisp yet comfortable form.
Styling Inspiration
The clean, vertical movement of the pine motifs makes this fabric ideal for long tunics, straight-cut kurtas, or a structured waistcoat. It also works beautifully for winter-inspired summer shirts or even sophisticated home linen, such as table runners that bring an earthy, artisanal touch to your space.
Specifications & Care
Care: Hand-wash separately in cold water using a mild liquid detergent. As with all naturally dyed Ajrakh, the fabric may "bleed" a little colour in the first few washes—this is a sign of its authenticity. Dry in shade.
Shipping: Dispatched within 3-8 business days.
Price: Inclusive of 5% GST.
Returns: This is a handcrafted, limited-edition fabric piece. No exchanges or returns are applicable.
Note from the Weaver: The beauty of Kala Cotton lies in its "imperfections." The tiny specks of organic matter and the gentle variations in the hand-blocked indigo are not flaws; they are the thumbprints of the artisans and the raw honesty of the earth.
