The Saree

Rooted in quiet elegance and timeless craftsmanship, this authentic handwoven Dhonekhali saree celebrates the enduring beauty of checks and earthy hues. Handwoven by skilled artisans in the historic Dhonekhali weaving clusters of West Bengal, the saree features a soft biscuit-coloured body woven with an understated checkered pattern in light grey and deep snuff brown. The gentle interplay of warm neutrals creates a composition that feels both grounded and sophisticated, evoking the rustic charm of Bengal's sunlit landscapes. Balanced and versatile, this saree lends itself beautifully to everyday elegance, workwear and intimate gatherings alike.

Framing this understated canvas are traditional Ganga-Jamuna borders, each measuring approximately three inches in width. The upper and lower borders are woven in contrasting shades of vibrant red and deep snuff brown, symbolising the harmonious union of complementary colours—a hallmark of Indian handloom tradition. Running gracefully through the centre of each border are three fine off-white stripes that introduce lightness and visual definition, lending the borders a clean architectural character. The restrained detailing allows the interplay of colours and checks to remain the focal point while enriching the saree with quiet sophistication.

The Pallu

The pallu continues the saree's balanced design language with effortless grace. The subtle striped composition transitions into an elegant arrangement of vertical bands in light grey and rich red, woven in varying widths to create rhythm and movement. Interwoven within this composition is Bengal's iconic Dhaaner Sheesh (sheaf of paddy) motif—an enduring symbol of abundance, prosperity and the intimate bond between the artisan and the fertile land. The thoughtful combination of structured stripes and this cherished heritage motif lends the pallu a refined elegance that beautifully complements the understated body.

The Blouse

This saree is a standalone heritage piece and does not come with a blouse piece. Pair it with a solid deep snuff brown cotton blouse for a rich earthy look, a classic red handwoven blouse to highlight the Ganga-Jamuna borders, or an ivory linen blouse for an effortlessly elegant and contemporary ensemble.

Over time, the cotton develops an even softer hand while retaining its strength, breathability and durability.
  • Care Instructions: Gentle hand wash separately in cold water using a mild liquid detergent. Avoid wringing or twisting the fabric. Dry in shade to preserve the subtle elegance of the grey base and the vibrancy of the handwoven coloured yarns.
