The Saree
Quietly elegant yet deeply rooted in Bengal's weaving tradition, this authentic handwoven Dhonekhali saree is a celebration of understated craftsmanship and thoughtful design. Woven by skilled artisans in the historic Dhonekhali weaving cluster of West Bengal, the pristine white body is enlivened by delicate alternating pickle green horizontal stripes. Adding further depth to the composition are finely woven Ikat (Kotki) motifs and distinctive chessboard-patterned accents that appear rhythmically across the body. Together, these subtle geometric elements create a saree that feels fresh, balanced and effortlessly timeless.
The borders beautifully frame this composition with intricate floral motifs that evoke the quiet charm of Bengal's natural landscape. These are gracefully followed by a continuous wave-like pattern, lending movement and softness to the edges. The restrained colour palette of white and pickle green enhances the woven details, making this saree equally suited for workwear, casual gatherings, intimate celebrations or leisurely daytime outings.
The Pallu
The pallu continues the saree's harmonious visual language with remarkable finesse. The signature horizontal stripes, Ikat-inspired motifs and chessboard accents flow seamlessly before transitioning into elegant vertical stripes that introduce a pleasing contrast in rhythm. Running through this composition is Bengal's iconic Dhaaner Sheesh (sheaf of paddy) motif—an enduring symbol of abundance, prosperity and the deep connection between the artisan and the fertile fields of Bengal. The interplay of structured geometry and traditional symbolism lends the pallu a graceful sense of movement and heritage.
The Blouse
This saree is a standalone handloom creation and does not include a blouse piece. Pair it with a solid pickle green cotton blouse for a coordinated look, an ivory handwoven blouse for understated elegance, or a deep forest green linen blouse to beautifully highlight the woven border motifs.
