'DAKSHAYANI' Block printed Kalamkari on handwoven cotton
Tax included
Exemplifying the rich cultural heritage of Andhra Pradesh, these handwoven cotton sarees are adorned with the famous hand block prints - Kalamkari in natural dyes. The weaving and printing have both been done in Machilipatnam.
The sarees are 80 count handloom cotton, known for its fine texture and lightweight quality. The term "80 count" refers to the thread count per inch, indicating a finer weave that enhances the fabric's softness and breathability.
In Machilipatnam, artisans use natural dyes extracted from plants and minerals. The process starts with preparing the fabric, which is then block printed using hand-carved wooden blocks dipped in these dyes. The blocks are meticulously aligned to create detailed and often elaborate designs, ranging from floral motifs to mythological scenes.
Designed to keep you cool during summer days, this saree allows your skin to breathe while draping you in sheer comfort.
This saree has a grey base with floral jaals in light brick red, dark red and indigo. The woven borders are light brick red in color. The pallu has stripes and floral designs in similar colors. The contrasting blouse piece is kora with prints in olive and light brick red and indigo border designs.
