The Saree

A poetic study in botanical harmony and graphic contrast, the body of this authentic handwoven Dhonekhali masterpiece is uniquely enchanting. Woven with magnificent precision in the historic weaving clusters of West Bengal, the main canvas is dipped in a soothing, earthy sage green shade. Adorning this serene base are striking, 1.5-inch wide ikat-style stripes running vertically throughout the body. These artistic stripes are thoughtfully spaced out every 4 inches, allowing the gorgeous sage green base to breathe while perfectly complementing the structural lines. Elevating the body canvas even further is a scattered arrangement of elegant, extra-weft geometric motifs composed of fine pinstripes handwoven in a rich plum tone, adding layers of sophisticated depth and interest.

Framing this masterfully detailed body is a grand, high-contrast Naksha Paar dobby border in a beautiful, deep maroon. The border architecture is filled with heritage details, combining a running row of traditional temple motifs, intricate diamond shapes, and a geometric play of maroon stripes. Crisp white stripes are woven intentionally into the frame to serve as sharp, luminous highlights, bringing out the distinct brilliance of the maroon artwork.

The Pallu

The pallu shifts beautifully into an unexpected, vibrant color narrative that enlivens the entire drape. It features a sequence of horizontal stripes in a bright, tropical lime-green mustardy shade, interspersed with contrasting plumish-maroon bands. Grounding this striking layout at both the beginning and the end are rows of the iconic 'Dhaaner Sheesh' (sheaf of paddy) motif, meticulously handwoven in alternating yellow and maroon extra-weft threads for a flawless heritage signature over the shoulder.

The Blouse

This saree is a standalone heritage piece and does not come with a blouse piece. To create a highly curated, sophisticated look, pair it with a solid sleeveless maroon cotton blouse to draw out the Naksha Paar borders, a tailored sage green linen crop top, or a contrasting plum boat-neck blouse to match the geometric body motifs.

Specifications & Care

  • Texture: Exceptionally lightweight, highly breathable, and perfectly suited for the nuances of Indian weather. This saree arrives starched to hold a crisp, pristine form right out of the box. While we recommend light starching to maintain its signature, sophisticated structure, it can absolutely be worn and maintained without starch as well. If you prefer a completely fluid drape, we recommend soaking the saree overnight in salt water to easily remove the starch. The fabric possesses an incredible quality of growing softer, more fluid, and more supple with every subsequent wash and wear.
  • Care Instructions: Gentle hand wash separately in cold water only using a mild liquid detergent. Do not wring or squeeze excessively. Avoid drying in direct sunlight to maintain the distinct brilliance of the turmeric yellow and green hand-dyed yarns.
  • Shipping: Free shipping within India.
  • Delivery: Dispatched and delivered within 3–8 business days from the date of your order.
