The Saree

A graceful expression of colour, rhythm and handcrafted heritage, this authentic handwoven Dhonekhali saree captures the cheerful vibrancy of Bengal's weaving traditions. Meticulously woven by skilled artisans in the historic Dhonekhali weaving clusters of West Bengal, the saree features a soothing light aqua body that instantly evokes the freshness of open skies and flowing waters. Running across this serene canvas are beautifully repeated horizontal bands composed of delicate floral motifs, followed by broad yellow panels accented with fine red and green stripes. The alternating arrangement of these woven elements lends the saree a rhythmic visual flow, creating a design that is lively yet wonderfully balanced.

Framing this composition are striking red borders that beautifully contrast the aqua body. Woven with traditional temple motifs, the borders add a sense of structure and cultural richness while remaining true to the understated elegance that defines authentic Dhonekhali handlooms. The harmonious interplay of aqua, yellow and red makes this saree ideal for festive mornings, temple visits, intimate celebrations, cultural gatherings and elegant everyday wear.

The Pallu

The pallu extends the saree's woven story with effortless continuity. The signature floral bands and striped compositions flow naturally into a striking arrangement of vertical red and yellow stripes, introducing a pleasing shift in direction and texture. Running gracefully through this composition is Bengal's iconic Dhaaner Sheesh (sheaf of paddy) motif—an enduring symbol of abundance, prosperity and the artisan's deep connection to the fertile landscape of Bengal. The balanced combination of vibrant colours, geometric rhythm and traditional symbolism gives the pallu a refined yet celebratory character.

The Blouse

This saree is a standalone handloom creation and does not include a blouse piece. Pair it with a solid red cotton blouse for a classic and striking look, a mustard yellow handwoven blouse to complement the woven bands, or a light aqua linen blouse for an elegant monochromatic finish.

Specifications & Care

  • Texture: Exceptionally soft, lightweight and breathable, this saree has been woven without starch, allowing it to drape beautifully from the very first wear. Perfectly suited to India's warm climate, it offers all-day comfort while retaining the airy character that has made Dhonekhali handlooms beloved for generations. If you prefer the crisp, structured finish traditionally associated with Dhonekhali sarees, the fabric can be lightly starched before wearing. Over time, the cotton develops an even softer hand while maintaining its strength and durability.
  • Care Instructions: Gentle hand wash separately in cold water using a mild liquid detergent. Avoid wringing or twisting the fabric. Dry in shade to preserve the freshness of the aqua body and the vibrancy of the red, yellow and green handwoven yarns.
  • Shipping: Free shipping within India.
  • Delivery: Dispatched and delivered within 3–8 business days from the date of your order.
  • Price is inclusive of 5% GST

Note from the Loom: The Dhonekhali weave is celebrated for its lightweight feel and culturally rich motifs. Because this is an authentic hand-loomed product from Hooghly, West Bengal, minor variations in stripe intervals, subtle thread slubs, or gentle colour textures are celebrated characteristics of its fine manual craftsmanship.

Product Note: Being a handwoven product, slight variations in colour, weave, or design are natural and reflect the authentic beauty of handcrafted textiles. The blouses featured in the photoshoots are for representation purposes only and are sold separately.
