The Saree

A beautiful, evocative tribute to the warmth of sun-drenched memories, the body of this authentic handwoven Dhonekhali masterpiece is deeply comforting. Crafted with exceptional skill in the historic Dhonekhali weaving clusters of West Bengal, the main canvas opens with a rich, inviting warm olive base. Cascading across this entire earthy backdrop is a subtle, delicate Jharna (waterfall) texture meticulously handwoven in warm yellow threads, giving the body an understated, shimmering depth.

Framing this warm canvas is a grand, 3.5-inch wide architectural border that introduces an exquisite play of cool and warm tones. The layout is masterfully symmetry-driven, bookended at both the outer and inner edges by a specific grouping: a collection of fine, gleaming golden pinstripes flanked by a deep navy blue stripe. Anchored safely between these two structural groups, the central band of the border unfolds into a beautiful sequence of horizontal stripes transitioning from soft sky light blue to white, back to sky blue, into warm yellow, repeating into sky blue, white, and a final blue accent. To complete the silhouette with unmatched grace, the entire inner border edge culminates in a flowing row of delicate, heart-shaped paisley motifs handwoven in a rich blend of navy blue and shimmering zari.

The Pallu

The pallu is a masterfully detailed, highly rhythmic show-stopper that gracefully extends the saree’s vibrant colour story. The top and bottom sections feature a heavy cluster of horizontal stripes in deep dark blue, warm yellow, and a bright lime green. Nestled inside the lime green bands are rows of the iconic 'Dhaaner Sheesh' (sheaf of paddy) motif, intricately woven in alternating yellow and blue extra-weft threads. The expansive middle section of the pallu beautifully bridges these clusters with a series of equidistant, half-inch wide horizontal stripes that alternate between rich blue and warm yellow.

The Blouse

This saree is a standalone heritage piece and does not come with a blouse piece. To create a sharp, highly contemporary look, pair it with a solid sleeveless navy blue cotton blouse to match the intricate border details, a tailored warm olive linen crop top, or a crisp sky blue boat-neck blouse to elegantly play up the central pastel stripes of the border.

Specifications & Care

  • Texture: Exceptionally lightweight, highly breathable, and perfectly suited for the nuances of Indian weather. This saree arrives starched to hold a crisp, pristine form right out of the box. While we recommend light starching to maintain its signature, sophisticated structure, it can absolutely be worn and maintained without starch as well. If you prefer a completely fluid drape, we recommend soaking the saree overnight in salt water to easily remove the starch. The fabric possesses an incredible quality of growing softer, more fluid, and more supple with every subsequent wash and wear.
  • Care Instructions: Gentle hand wash separately in cold water only using a mild liquid detergent. Do not wring or squeeze excessively. Avoid drying in direct sunlight to maintain the distinct brilliance of the turmeric yellow and green hand-dyed yarns.
  • Shipping: Free shipping within India.
  • Delivery: Dispatched and delivered within 3–8 business days from the date of your order.

Note from the Loom: The Dhonekhali weave is celebrated for its lightweight feel and culturally rich motifs. Because this is an authentic hand-loomed product from Hooghly, West Bengal, minor variations in stripe intervals, subtle thread slubs, or gentle colour textures are celebrated characteristics of its fine manual craftsmanship.

Product Note: Being a handwoven product, slight variations in colour, weave, or design are natural and reflect the authentic beauty of handcrafted textiles. The blouses featured in the photoshoots are for representation purposes only and are sold separately.
